Prayer For Hope Week 4

#30 days of Prayer for Hope
##Week 4

At the end of Pastor’s sermon last Sunday we were introduce to the New Living Translation of Psalms 77:19 “Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there!” Also continuing with last weeks message I wrote to you about hope, we discussed whether we believe if God is big enough, capable enough, or loving enough to take care of our problems. In Psalms 77, we see the that He is!

Not only is He big enough, capable enough, and loving enough He has ways that are completely “inconceivable” to us. (Sorry I can’t do a Princess Bride imitation in writing). The point is that His ways are so out of our normal way of thinking we quite probably will never be able to come up with how God will intervene on our behalf to solve our problems –we just know that He will.

We read in Isaiah 55:8 (NLT), “’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.’” This is probably a good thing looking back at my life. If it were not so, my life would have been far more messed up than it has been. It would have been filled with relationships that were unhealthy for me, investments that were not wise, and jobs that would have turned very bad.

Who in the fleeing Israelites would have ever thought of opening up the sea to make a path for God’s people? The same is true in your life. How God is going to handle your problem probably has no resemblance to how you would like it handled. However, it will be to prosper you; we read in Romans chapter 8, “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (Romans 8:26-29 NLT).

God’s will for us will always be greater for us than our own will. This is where trust comes in. We trust in God to have a better plan for us that the one we have for ourselves even if it does take us through the “darkest valley.”

Lets pray this week, for our hope in Jesus to be magnified in our trust in Him to do what is best for us.

Blessings, Pastor Perry
